The supply electrical circuit consists of two dc sources parallel connected, operating at different voltage range:
- HV1 source with an output voltage of about -7 kV, used to initiate the electrical discharge
- HV2 source with an output voltage of about -600 V, used to sustain the electrical discharge
Ignition voltage switching on/off is performed automatically by an electronic circuit which compares the discharge current with a threshold value.
This approach improves the circuit supply reliability, energy efficiency and diminishes electromagnetic perturbations.
A single unit contains both dc sources. The whole system can be controlled remotely by means of a PC.
Electronic circuits comprise only common components, commercially available, allowing to be implemented as a product by an innovative start-up.
